Autumn, Singing and More Than a Bit of Sparkle!

Half Term Highlights – Finn’s cover of ‘Fix You’ by Coldplay

Autumn term is upon us and WE ARE BACK!! We are delighted to be singing together again, and with all our regulations and protocol in place, we are SO happy to be back to what we know and love.

So what’s new at CCC? What have we been up to over the last few weeks? Great question!

Charlton Kings Choirs

First, in September we launched two wonderful new choirs. At our first sessions we met nearly 30 new faces, who have formed the Charlton Kings branches of Little Lyrics and Vocalise. We meet on a Friday evening at Holy Apostles Church and these fab singers are already working towards their festive performances! Here they are…

Singing Exam Success

Back in Leckhampton, we have three great groups, all doing amazing things. I have to take a minute to shout about some fabulous achievements from the summer term. Some of our Choir members also choose to have singing lessons with our in-house singing teacher. This summer, they took their Grade 1 singing exams and all passed with flying colours!! We celebrated their amazing efforts in a presentation ceremony…

Cheltenham Children’s Choir CIC

Some great news – the Children’s Choir is now a registered Community Interest Company! This might sound like gobble-di-gook, but what it DOES mean, is that we are now eligible to apply for funding for concerts, events, musical activities and equipment for the children, to further extend their musical experiences and opportunities. Simple things, such as now being exempt from having to pay for a licence to go carol singing (hooray!), will mean that the children will be experiencing more and more in the future!!

Half Term Highlights

Over half term, we set the children a ‘half term home videos’ task – what songs are you performing at home? What songs are you singing to your dog? Share them! Here are some of our favourites…

What’s Next?

We are SO looking forward to seeing everyone this weekend as we continue rehearsing our fab Autumn term music. Not long now until our Christmas Concerts and a live audience, with mums, dads and lots of applause, smiles and cheer! There will be singing, glitter and even some kazoos…

If you would like to come and support us (and maybe even join in a bit of the singing!) we would love to see you there. Here are the details:

Choir Showcase, June 2021

The Children’s Choir is back with a bang! We are returning to the stage on Saturday, 19th June 2021 at The Bacon Theatre, Cheltenham, to record our very first streamed concert. Not only that, we are joining forces with the wonderful recently formed adult community choir, Musicality, to create a fantastic Choir Showcase. This will be available to view on your screens on Sunday 20th June 2021 at 6pm. You will shortly be able to buy your tickets, watch this space…

Return to Naunton Park

We have all been super patient and it has been a long time coming, but our return to face-to-face rehearsals now seems like it is just around the corner! Cheltenham Children’s Choir are planning on returning to in-person rehearsals at a temporary venue, Naunton Park School, on Saturday 24th April. Oh my, we can’t wait to sing together again!

Music and Drama Education Award

Our founder and choir leader, Amber, was nominated by choir parents for the ‘Francesca Hanley Inspiration Award’, as part of The Music and Drama Education Awards. These national awards were held virtually on 24th March and we all had lots of fun watching the show, hosted by Alexander Armstrong (wow!). Amber didn’t win this time, but it was more than enough to be nominated and surrounded by the most inspirational and wonderful music and drama teachers in the business!
