Meet the Team

We are a small, friendly team with a variety of different skills, all with a love of choir. We all have the appropriate DBS checks (available on request) and are easily spotted on a Saturday morning… navy blue Cheltenham Children’s Choir polo shirts and the biggest smiles!

Amber Smith

Musical Director and Founder

My name is Amber Smith, I am a freelance choir director and music teacher. I am the founder and Musical Director of  Cheltenham Children’s Choir, founded in 2018. My goal for the choir is to make it a welcoming, fun and happy place, open-to-all, with one thing in common – we all love to sing!

Since we began our musical adventure in 2018, I have been lucky enough to learn from some brilliant mentors and choir leaders including Janice Thompson (AOTOS), Dr Gillyanne Kayes and Jeremy Fisher (Vocal Process). I was proud to be a finalist for ‘The Francesca Hanley Inspiration Award’ at the Music and Drama Education Awards in 2021, sponsored by the ISM, Musicians Union and Classic FM, nominated by my wonderful choir family! I enjoy learning and connecting with other choir leaders both nationally and internationally, to continually offer the best that we can to the children.

I am a passionate, dedicated and community-spirited individual who enjoys singing, performing, the theatre and walks in the sunshine (or wellies!). I enjoy putting creativity, music and joy at the heart of everything I do.

Grace Anstis

Choir Assistant

I am Grace and performing has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember. I have been dancing since I was three years old, tap being one of my favourite genres. I started performing with the Cheltenham Operatic and Dramatic Society in 2010 and since then have been in the Wizard of Oz, Oliver and Beauty and the Beast, to name a few. This allowed me to do all the things I love – singing, acting and dancing!

I am starting at Gloucestershire University studying Performing Arts in September 2021 after taking a gap year, which will allow me to improve my skills and become a qualified dance teacher. I absolutely love being a member of the team at Cheltenham Children’s Choir and I am really excited to continue being a part of this for the foreseeable future. 🙂

Tracey Vacher

Choir Accompanist

I am a piano teacher, accompanist, community choir leader and physiotherapist based in Cheltenham.  Although I have played the piano all my life, both in bands and as a soloist, I started teaching in earnest about 10 years ago.  At the same time, I was asked to accompany another children’s choir, and discovered an absolute joy in doing so, and so am incredibly excited to now be part of the ever growing CCC!  My background is in healthcare, and I have enjoyed combining my two passions of music and rehabilitation while at work in the NHS where possible – this is something that I would love to explore more over the years ahead.  I am a firm believer that music can really lift people’s mood and enhance their lives, so to be able to be part of the team at CCC is truly a delight, particularly seeing the progress of the children through Little Lyrics right up to Harmonise.

Rosie Brooks

Singing Teacher

My name is Rosie. I grew up in Australia having a passion for Musical Theatre! I enjoy exploring all aspects of singing: pop, musical theatre, opera and more. After having explored my own love of singing, I discovered a love of singing teaching. I absolutely adore working as a singing teacher at Cheltenham Children’s Choir, helping students develop their skills and grow their passion for singing!

Cheltenham Children’s Choir wouldn’t run without an amazing team of volunteers and parent volunteers, who give up their time, thoughts and energy to a Saturday morning, always smiling. Thank you team!
